Construction Junction, a non-profit retail store for used and surplus building materials, accepts usable paint, lumber, ceramic and vinyl floor tiles, cabinets, etc. Thoughout the year they also host a series of collections. Habitat for Humanity Allegheny Valley also runs a ReStore which sells donated furnishings and construction materials to raise funds and awareness for Habitat for Humanity. ReStores recycle overstocked, discontinued, new and used building materials and other household items donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors and individuals. These donated items are sold to the public or used in construction of Habitat houses. The ReStore is located at 225 Freeport Street, New Kensington, PA 15068 and the phone number is 724-337-8347. The Pennsylvania Resources Council is the one stop shop for waste reduction resources in Western Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania Resources Council, in conjunction with the Allegheny County Department of Health and other Pittsburgh based organizations sponsors many recycling events including Household Chemical Collections, Hard to Recycle Collections and Educational Workshops. The At Your Door Special Collection Service is a residential service offered by Waste Management to provide year-round Household Hazardous Waste collection for you.
