Hunters' wanted for O'Hara Township Deer Program
The O’Hara Township Deer Management Program is Accepting Applications for Qualified and Ethical Archery Hunters
The O’Hara Township Deer Management Program is looking for volunteer hunters to assist in controlling the deer population. Only authorized hunters will be permitted to hunt on O’Hara Township Properties and on participating private properties with archery equipment during the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s designated archery season.
A der management program began in O’Hara Township many years ago, using an outside third party after complaints about deer began to increase. Recently the township has made sweeping changes to the program to increase the safety and effectiveness of the program while promoting transparency, community engagement and responsible stewardship of resources.
O’Hara Township receives a great number of calls each year which include deer hit by vehicles resulting in damage to vehicles and injured / deceased deer lying in residents’ yards. Complaints from residents regarding damage to trees, foliage, bushes and gardens are received regularly.
If you are an experienced and ethical archery hunter and wish to participate in the O’Hara Twp. Deer Management Program as a volunteer hunter please apply.
